Our Services

Assessment.

We will conduct a variety of assessments at home or school to establish the occupational performance needs of the child.  The findings act as a benchmark to set measurable and achievable goals to set a path of the child’s intervention journey. These findings become instrumental for the school as it offers an understanding in supporting each child’s needs. Parents / caregivers can also adapt the advice to fit the home environment.

The assessment will include (costs to be discussed at point of contact):

  • Assessing and supporting your child to participate in a variety of meaningful activities in class and at home.
  • Assessing and identifying strategies to support the child’s ability to attend, focus , and completion of set tasks.
  • Exploring your child’s sensory challenges and building strategies to support there challenges within the environmental setting.
  • Assessing your child’s fine motor skills and their ability to draw, write, and there scissor skills also undertaking pasting activities or working with a ruler.
  • Assessing your child with there problem solving and organisational skills with their work, or belongings throughout the day.
  • Assessing your child with personal care activities they may find challenging to do independently such as  toileting, feeding washing, dressing grooming tasks and sleep.

Virtual Screening Initial Assessment.

This is a service where you can raise any functional challenges your child may be having.  This service allows you to openly discuss your concerns and if you are considering a further assessment for your child. The service includes a 60-minute virtual call via Microsoft Teams call with one of our team.  A summary report will then be provided with recommendations and advice given.

Preschool Comprehensive Assessment.

This assessment is specifically for children under Reception age.  This assessment is carried out in the Nursery or at home, and it takes around 60 minutes. The assessment may include:

  • Listening to you and your child,
  • Standardised/non standardised assessment if required.

Once the assessment is complete and the standardised assessments are scored a report is then written with advice provided.

School Age Comprehensive Assessment.

This assessment is specifically for children of school age.  It is best conducted at school and takes up to 90 minutes.  The assessment may include:

  • Discussion with teaching staff and family,
  • Listening to you and your child,
  • Standardised/non standardised assessments

Once the assessment is complete and standardised assessments are scored a report is then written with advice provided.

Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) Assessment and Report.

This assessment is for those of you who are looking for Occupational Therapy to be put into your child’s EHCP.  Your child will be assessed for 90 minutes.  The assessment will include:

  • Discussion with teaching staff and family,
  • Listening to you and your child,
  •  Standardised/non standardised assessments,
  • Liaison and discussion with other relevant professionals (e.g., Teachers, Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapist).
  • As part of the EHCP assessment a further observation will need to be carried out within their academic environment.

Information gathering with the family/ school and external services will also be carried out.  A detailed report will be provided to the family and Local Authority upon consent from the family.

Intervention Services.

Therapy/intervention Sessions: 1-1 direct therapy with your child.

School Based Occupational Therapy Sessions: Occupational therapy sessions are delivered in classrooms during the everyday events of the school day. In this setup, the Occupational Therapist carries out the therapy sessions during class.

  • It reduces the stigma for the student since they will not be leaving their classmates.
  • It is less disruptive for the student and allows them to flow with their everyday routines.
  • Other students in the classroom benefit from this support. This includes those who are unidentified and might have the same challenges.
  • The Occupational Therapist and the teaching team gain a better understanding of the child, and a great collaboration is forged.
  • It creates an opportunity for peer learning and modelling.

Training and workshops for Teachers and Families
The Occupational Therapist offer workshops and training for parents and teachers to enable the families and school staff to learn more about strategies. In addition, the workshops encourage everyone to be on the same page, and allow a team to work together with the knowledge and skills required for the student to thrive.

Group Sessions

These are a great way to work with a number of students working together whilst having fun, and they help students who enjoy peer learning. Examples of groups include Fine motor groups or sensory groups.

Modifications of School Environments Recommendations

These assist to adapt or modify the school environment to help students access education. These can be arranged upon request.
